Have you considered uninstaling and reinstalling Flash? I once fixed a
problem with IE7 that way. Subsequently, I haven't even gotten that recipe
to work and go to FF when I need to hear certain audio on websites.

I have the same problem trying to listen to a local radio stationon on
bbc.co.uk, Firefox werks fine but IE 8 will not play it
