I'm having something of the same problem but only with Jaws 9 and not all the time. And, it only happens with SAPI 5 Set to Realtek AC97 Audio. The sapi 5 voice wants to go through my Audigy. If I close and restart Jaws, Sapi 5 goes to the Realtec

where it belongs.

Ok, been there done that and it still wants to use the new creative sound card. Same thing happens when I try it on Jaws 8. I have an on board RealTek sound card and the line in jfw.ini looks like this:
Synth1Port=Realtek AC'97 Audio

This still don't seem to make jaws want to use that device. Any ideas?

The path to the file which needs to be modified is:

c:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\9.0\JFW.INI

In my file the line looks like this:

Synth1Port=Creative Sound Blaster PCI

The sound board specified is the second installed sound board. JAWS will be
the only process using this sound board.

O, that's not uncommon. I too have noticed with my Logitech head set the
same thing.

Good that someone brought it up. I'm using a USB headset for an IP Soft
Phone and whenever I plug it in JAWS automatically routes to that audio
device. I need to unload and reload JAWS before it goes back to my default
sound card.

Yes, I would also like to know how to force JAWS to only recognize a
particular audio device.

Hmm! Str'r'r'range! I, for one, have also seen that it doesn't quite
seem
to wanna work. Now you got me curious! I thought maybe my pc was just as
usual, being dumb.

Chris.

Hello,
I have jaws 9 now with win xp and would like to switch back to using two
sound cards. I follow the old instructions I got off this list which
worked for Jaws 5.1 but now Jaws 8 & 9 just don't seen to want to switch.
Could it be I'm not editing the right jfw.ini file? If so can someone
tell
me where to find the right one please?
thanks!

Luis...
