I'm using Windows XP home and therefore, your instructions do not apply to
my situation. I did, however, slightly increase the buffer size in my
recording application and so I'll see if that helps.

PS. I know that Freedom Scientific seems to recommend using the classic
view even in Windows XP; however, I prefer using the XP view because it's
the view I taught myself with and I never had anything to do with Windows 98
or 98SE.

Sincerely Yours,

 Dear Ray

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific technical Support. If you are
using a windows 9x system, take the steps below before and after a recording
to see how your resources are impacted when using JAWS 6 with the recording
software verses JAWS 5.1. If I can be of any additional assistance to you,
feel free to email me back.

1. Minimize all applications (Windows logo key+m or (insert+f6))

2. Note: if you land on My Computer, you can press the spacebar and proceed
with step 3. Otherwise, press the letter m until you get to

my computer

3. Hold down the alt key and press the enter key to open the properties

4. Hold down the control key and press tab until you get to the performance
tab

5. Route Jaws to PC and use your arrow keys to move up or down and get
system information

you should see a line that reads:

system resources: xx%

the x's will be replaced with an actual number on your system.

Hi,

When I record using Adobe Audition version 1.0 and JAWS version 6, my
audio often skips; yet, it never does so when I record using Audition 1.0
with JAWS 5.1. There's just no way JAWS can be pushing so hard on my CPU so
as to cause this. Audition does tend to push my CPU fairly hard; but,
surely that, in combination with JAWS 6 can't be enough to cause the
skipping. Any thoughts? Would increasing my virtual memory help the issue?
IF so, how would I go about doing that? Are there any settings in JAWS 6 I
might perhaps take a look at changing? I manually set my JAWS 6 settings
and didn't merge with JAWS 5.1 as the merge tends to make JAWS fairly
sluggish.

PS. Adobe audition 1.5 not an option because of focus change events which
JAWS is unable to see. Thanks.

Sincerely Yours,

The Constantly BAREFOOTED
Ray
