This suggestion sounds sensible, but I think it inadvisable. You believe
that changing one's password after FS has tested the website provides
sufficient assurances of security. Actually, I think it is asking us to give
too much trust to strangers. I have no reason whatsoever to distrust FS or
its employees. However, my credit card information was once stolen by an
employee of a very famous and reputable company.
In addition, I'm sure I'm not alone in using the same password for many
online providers. I suppose I could change my password in advance, contact
FS, let them use that password for testing purposes, and then create yet a
third password. But this is a convoluted procedure that still has holes.
There are a reasons we're given passwords and why we're instructed not to
share them with anyone. If you have any doubts about such security concerns,
read today's news about why Obama will probably need to give up his
Blackberry once he takes office.
I apologize to the moderator for this non-JAWS message, but I didn't want to
let the suggestion go unchallenged that we should feel comfortable giving FS
or any other company access to our personal information, no matter what
additional steps we may take to protect ourselves. I say all this with
respect to Dave, whose advice on this list I often find helpful.

You could go in to your profile, change your password to a temporary
password, which you could then give to the FS Tech Support Agent, so they
could try and diagnose the problem.
When they have finished, go back to your profile and change the password
back to the original password, if you so wish.
What is a little inconvenience, if by putting up with a little
inconvenience, you get your problem solved.
A little bit of imagination and initiative, that is all it takes.
Sorry to say, the above mentioned commodities are severely lacking today!

I've encountered a problem with the current version of Firefox and JAWS
10,
but so far it shows up only on pages to which you need to subscribe. For
example, on the website for FreshDirect, which provides supermarket product
deliveries to homes in the New York City area, I cannot get JAWS 10 to read
past a certain point. It works fine on the non-log-in pages, but once logged
in, the limitation occurs. I have discussed this problem with FS, but they
can't replicate it and I can't help them log in as non-subscribers.
When I unload JAWS 10 and bring up JAWS 9, the pages are completely
readable.
If anyone else is experiencing this problem with JAWS 10 and Firefox on a
website which doesn't require a log-in, I hope you will also report it.
