Thanks. A friend suggested to run a command with my Dell CD in drive. So I
ran this command listed below and I hope all is fine. He also told me that I took a chance by deleting but happy that I did not do more harm. But I will not reboot until I need to. To check if your system files have been changed or corrupted, run the following command from the Run menu. You will need your Windows Installation disk as some files may have to be restored.

sfc /scannow

Ann,

It looks like you're on top of the problem, although you must be a little
nervous about the next reboot. Two more thoughts.

First, do you have a registry cleaner? It might recognize and deal with
the
file.

Second, like you, I googled the filename and got no hits. However,
underneath the usual suggestions for alternative searches, there are
promotions for websites on how to handle dll errors. In case that's of
interest, here's the link to the search results page I got:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1020&bih=593&q=nilivuto.dll
&aq=f&aqi=&aql=f&oq=

I found the Dell CD. Unsure if this is a bootable disk or not but when it
begins I get a setup.
Looked at all DLL files on CD and no file found. So I thought this was a
junk file.
Thanks for the Google idea. When I searched nothing was found. So I went
into
c:\windows\system32
and deleted to recycle bin
nilivuto.dll
It was created on 3/29/11 at 10:09 am and was 20 bytes. The file was all
in
caps and other DLL files were in small letters and much larger.
When I launch an application all is fine and I don't get that message.
We have no idea how this file got there but my best guess is that perhaps
a
virus was trying to install and could not because of software protection.
I
hope this problem is resolved. But the true test will be when I reboot.
Need to do some computer work for the next 2 days so hopefully I don't
need
to reboot before then.
Ann

and file name was in all caps and was 20 bytes.

Ann,

When I encounter a situation like this, I google the filename, as well as
post a query to the list. Google often comes through. So does the list,
but
just in case it's worth a search.

Hi today I got this message:
c:\windows\system32\nilivuto.dll
is not a valid windows image check installation diskette which I cannot
find.
I looked at this file and the date is today. Somehow this file got
corrupted.
Is there a way that I can restore this file only? If so how?
Thanks,
Ann
