Hello George: It depends upon whether you want to use JAWS when you use programs such as OpenBook or Kurzweil 1000, instead of the internal speech and synthesizer. If you use the internal speech and synthesizer, then it is unnecessary to invoke the JAWS "Sleep Mode yourself", as that function is automatically turned on, if you used the Windows short cut keys ALT+CTRL+O, for OpenBook and ALT+CTRL+K, for Kurzweil 1000. When you use either of the above commands, a JAWS script is called that invokes the "Sleep Mode" function. When you exit either of the abovementioned programs, the JAWS script turns the "Sleep Mode" function off before terminating, so you can again use JAWS in the Windows session. At the end of the day, it is all a matter of choice and preference or, "what ever makes your boat float". sincerely: Dave Durber -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
