I am using jaws 6.2, and didn't have an eloquence folder under the shared
folder. So, to be on the safe side I created one and put the file in it.
If I notice anything different about the way jaws act because of this I'll
let the group know.
By the way, this is indeed a problem. To test it out before I installed
the
patch, I opened the .dct file in my favorite editor, textpad, and read
through the file. At some point, jaws quit reading and I got the ding from
the computer telling me something had aborted--I assume it was jaws.
Actually, though I'm not condoning this person's actions sending out
e-mails
with the offending words in it, but, I guess the blind have come of age in
the internet world--we have our very own virus (sort of), and, as is true
of
all viruses, does nothing but show the juvenile self-centered thinking of
the sender. But, for we the blind, this may be a milestone--we've received
a virus dedicated to us--Norton, avg, and any other virus scaner doesn't
know about it, but cooperation between the users and the vendor prevented
it
from becoming a real problem. Now, if they could... oh well, that's for
another day.
