I know, I've said it at least once, maybe several hundred more times than
that, but I feel it's been said again. Keep things on topic with regards
posts to the list. While personal oppinions and views are welcome, direct
or indirect flames of FS, or FS's products are not, for two reasons.
Firstly, we are not an FS list, therefore posting your grievences, bethey
justified or not, to this list does little more than make people ask why
you're posting to this list since it doesn't concern this list. I know for
certain I'm not the only one who's seen a fair bit of this lately. I won't
name names, or point out specific messages... I shouldn't have to. People
who've done this, or similar postings that are off-topic and obviously so,
know who you are. If you don't, you will. It's getting near the time when I
usually post the list guidelines, but let me stress, *very* much, a main
guideline on the list, because on a list as big as this, it can't be
stressed enough. This list deals with JFW, its functionality with various
programs, known bugs with the program itself, and where applicable, the
notification of and discussion of released updates. You'll note in that
list, nowhere was included your personal views on whether or not what FS
did was or wasn't a good call, or whether or not you will continue to
support FS, or any other of the 50 or so variations of both topics I've
seen floating around the list over the last month or so. In short, keep
your posts on topic, please. If you don't know if you're crossing a line in
posting it, send it to me first, and I'll tell you. I've never turned
anyone away, that I know of, if they had a question or needed something
clarified. I may have overlooked one or two emails, and oppologies if
you're one of those people who got overlooked... sadly, I do have an
offline life, even if it isn't much of one. But, send another reminding me
that yes, you did ask me this question, and yes, I did forget to reply to
you. Sometimes all an admin needs is a swift kick. *grin* Anyway, one less
essay I have to write. Long story short, keep your posts on topic, please.
If you aren't sure, ask. If you don't like my answer when you ask, please
don't post it anyway. I really don't like having to moderate people. Though
mostly that's because I'm usually too lazy to log into the interface to do
it. *grin*
James,
List Admin
PS: I said I didn't like moderating people. I didn't say I wouldn't do it
anyway.
