I'm actually using it right now for the time being, but my main gripe is
that it won't allow me to automatically put people to whom I reply in my
contacts like OE.

What about MS Outlook? I know it's an "elephant gun" slolution to the simple
need for a mail client; and I'm soooo relieved I won't have to migrate my
contacts and appointments to it, now that Flor directed me to David Ferrin's
new scripts for Anytime. But, if Windows Mail keeps crashing for you, you
might look at it.
