I have been using Carbonite (carbonite.com) for online backups for a few months
now. As advertised, it is pretty easy to install and the backup process is
invisible. I have never yet had to restore, so I cannot speak to that aspect
(one hopes it actually does work, right?). The website is pretty manageable as
well. The only feature that is not accessible is remote file access - this is
whereby you could retrieve a copy of a backed up file from a different
computer.
The cost is about $55 per year; less for multi-year subscription. There is also
a 15 day free trial period so the risk to check it out is pretty small.
Carbonite also works on a referral basis. If you take advantage of my referral,
