I have used JAWS V5 pro on three systems, two with Windows XP and the third on
Win 2000K. I set JAWS V5 to run first, without any other adjustments of
settings. I don't have any performance problems with JAWS. Perhaps putting
JAWS in the system tray etc. has some merit, I am not contesting that. I have
no problems with the Windows logon screen either.

Some of the problems in this thread may be caused by sectors being clobbered.
When odd problems start appearing, I believe a person should run ScanDisk or
equivalent right away. Sometimes, a process of trial and chance by
uninstalling and reinstalling applications will resolve odd problems. That's
not what you would like to hear and it does take time and effort, but often
you can enjoy many hours of computer usage with no problems.
