Well, just to chime in a wee bit on this discussion, I have used
control+JawsKey+UpArrow for yonks to run a custom script sporting one builtin
function which I personally find reeeally helpful, I.e.
SayString (PositionInGroup ())
Which immediately speaks the item, X of Y etc, without waiting for the
information to come at the end of an entire line'sWorth of info with
Jaws+UpArrow.
I never knew why FS wouldn't have included it as a default feature, but I'm
still using V12.0 as my workaday version here, and It seems quite Scriptable in
that version. Jim when did they begin "reserving" the this keystroke + others?

Snowman,
you are right. I don't know why they are reserved, but if you would like
to use such of a keystroke, like Ctrl+JAWSKey+UpArrow, then use it in a
layered form. Ctrl+JAWSKey&UpArrow will work correctly and it is much
easier to press than the nonlayered form. In my scripts I use everytime
layered keys if my user has to press more than 2 keys to get a script
running. JAWSKey+Control is one of my layer-key pairs. For example I
remapped the default JAWSKey+NumPad 5keycombination to Control+JAWSKey &
UpArrow keycombination. If I press once, It reads the word in spelled
form. If I press twice, it reads the word syllabically. The
JAWSKey+Control & LatAlt+UpArrow makes same but with selected texts.
I don't know why script writers dealing with keycombinations which are
almost impossible to press down, instead of using layered keys organized
on logical manner.

Czaba

there are certain key strokes that seem to be reserved, in 202 anyway, and I
wonder if anybody knows what they are for.
if you try to use control+jawsKey+UpArrow, your script will not run. And
pressing that more than twice yields a beep.
Likewise with alt+jawsKey+NumPad5, and perhaps others.
Anybody know what these are all about?
