F8 in Word is only concerned with selecting text, F5 was the old key-stroke before it was removed (in Jaws 6?). I agree with Jason that pressing a single key-stroke to convert a table to text is a significant improvement on having to go into the Tables menu and select it from there - this becomes particularly noticeable when having to convert up to 30 tables in a single document. I would also be interested if anyone is able to suggest a way of rehabilitating the old table conversion script for Jaws 9. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jason Boston" <jwb3301@xxxxxxx> To: <jawsscripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 11:30 PM Subject: [jawsscripts] Re: converting table to text in word To all, Wit the jaws function you only had to have the cursor in any part of the table and then hit the key stroke. Yes, I know there is a function for this in word, but the method I'm use to via JFW is easier and more convenient for me. Does anyone have any ideas on the function in question? -----Original Message----- From: jawsscripts-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jawsscripts-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie McBride Sent: Thursday, November 29, 2007 9:40 AM To: jawsscripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jawsscripts] Re: converting table to text in word Why do u need it? In the table menu of word there is a convert option, w/a submenu, 1 of which is convert text to table, from whence u can select delimiters, etc. U first have to select the text u wanna convert, of course, but this would surely be more effective than doing it via jaws--I mean, generally speaking, if a program has a function built in it usually does the job better than any screenreader function which of necessity is not native to the application.
