it's certainly not simple. I persist because I like iTunes, that is, I like
what it offers. but I gotta say that even with the OSM corruptions that
frequently sported onscreen reading with jaws cursor in Itunes, which I'd
like Brian hartgen to comment on given he's done the most work with it on
the plannet I'd say for the longest time, I still say that apple made big
steps backwards for us anywayz, in terms of accessibility, when itunes 9 was
released. version 8 is still supported for buying stuff, though of course it
won't support all the latest gismos and connectivty most will want, with
ipads, iPhones and the like, which I don't have any of, so don't care about
for now.

it's clunky to put it mildly. they sure could jolly well improve it I
reckon.
I rang gw micro to talk to them about this though, when I realized that
onscreen stuff in itunes 9 couldn't be read with window eyes either, and
they were shaking their heads going, we don't have any power with them to
change things either! basically. last time I tried window eyes with it too,
it was worse though than with jaws. so far as the virtual stuff keeping up
with what was actually onscreen. I don't know what the situation is now, GW
might have fixed this in later updates, but about 6 months ago I gave WE a
whirl with itunes, and found that it had done something weird with caching
of it's virtual offScreen model, which no longer represented what was really
onscreen, when tested with jaws! so, yep there are definitely anomalies
here.
haven't tested it with NVDA yet, though I must do that soon.

getting back more on topic and original questioner, I haven't tried Brian's
tant consultancy scripts with these later versions of jaws or itunes for
ages. so am not exactly sure what they offer in terms of repairing or
assisting any of this.

though my gut feeling tells me that so much of this awkward functionality
would be a basic fall-out of both jaws' interpretation of what was going on,
and apple's "on screen "rendering engine," which GW told me they were aware
they'd adopted, which was causing all of the info not to be available to
read direclty with either there mouse, or our jaws cursor etc.

sad.
