If you are using windows 7 I would use windows live mail which comes with
windows 7.
In order to download your messages to your computer you will need to make
sure that you have imap or pop enabled under the forwarding settings in
gmail but you can find lot of help and instructions by searching in google
describing your settup.

Hi Tom I am trying to use the older programme outlook express as available
from the jaws-users.com site. Is it best to use basic view or standard
view? Are there any bits I have to change in google mail to get best results
with jaws (using jaws 2018 and windows 7 64) I realise this is an old e mail
client but I have always got on with it unless you can suggest an

What third party client are you trying to connect. How have you got
your gmail set up. If you've got it set up as imap, it reads the mail
directly from the website. It doesn't download it. Look at your gmail
settings and under forwarding, I think, you'll see various download
html view.
If you trust google's backup, there's no great advantage in
downloading stuff. The web page is pretty easy to read, specially in basic
Standard view is a bit harder to navigate, but, has more options.

Hi I have recently re/joined after changing e mail address. My
problem is the I have set up a g mail e mail and want all messages to
come down to my computer via a third party client. I am able to send
messages to myself and have received confirmation from the list to say
I am subscribed but no messages are appearing. I have checked on g
mail itself and it shows there are messages but they are not coming
down to my computer. Does anybody have any ideas why this should be?
