He means JAWS 2018 but the OCR feature in earlier versions of JAWS should work
reasonably well.
However, if the original documents were very old it might prove difficult to
get a reasonable scan. There are problems caused by the fact that over the
years the print tends to spread which leads to misshaped letters and the
infilling of O, P, q, R, and so on which makes recognition much more difficult.
Most OCR programs have a facility for scanning files that are already on the
computer. Certainly Kurzweil will do it and other less specialised ones I have
used would as well.

ABBYYFfineReader or Open book?
