Hello David,
Go into Tools options, [shortcut keys are Alt T O],
Go to the view tab
tab through this and uncheck the boxes for spaces, paragraph marks and any
other stuff you don't want spoken, tab to O K and press enter.

Unexpectedly, JAWS is now reading these and displaying them in Braille using
Word 2003 How can I turn off this undesirable feature?
