I've used the program quickMixIn, from the jfwlite page, I think.
This programme saves sound settings in .qmx files. I have a file called
1quickmixsettings on the desk top and even if I get no sound, I hit the number
1 and enter. This generally kicks things off again. Sometimes, sticking an
audio CD in also starts things off. Not sure about the theory, but, desperation.

Hi Jim, this has happened to me several times for no apparent reason. My
sounds have been muted and my wife has to help me out. Sometimes there is a
tick in the mute box and sometimes the volumes are all down to zero. I don't
know why this happens, so I wonder if anyone can tell me the reason.
