Graham Just to say that when you start Plextalk it is best to turn numloc on. Then you can use the number pad to go up and down levels with 2 and 8 and rewind and forward wind with 4 and 6. The other keys do other things which I can't recall offhand, but there is a little manual in the Plextalk help somewhere, and the commands aren't very many. Space pauses and plays, and escape shuts the player down. I have been in the streaming service since it started, and I must say I like it very much. You can also play your talking book CD's with it, which I am having to do at present as my player has gone in for repair. I have recently joined the RNIB Book Stream club. Generally I find the site quite accessible but I do have some questions. One is definitely JAWS related. the other one is less so though I would require any solution to work with JAWS. Firstly, the bookstream club lets you stream RNIB digital talkingbooks to your PC. Once you join (for a fee of £50 per year) you download the Plextalk Player which plays books. Ideally it seems to me you want to run this without a screenreader running. This is not stated anywhere but with JAWS version 8 running you do not get any audio while winding back. with JAWS 9 running however I find a load of numbers get read off in the form 20 db 30 db 40 db and the general chatter makes using the plextalk player unusable with JAWS. I can set screen echo to none and every so often I hear a beep until eventually after about 20 minutes or so JAWS finally crashes. Has anyone else had this problem? My second question I will send separately as this one has gone on long enough!!!
