Alternatively, you could try Google's Desktop Search application, very good indeed! Or the MSN Search Tool, I think that what it's called, though I haven't used it so I don't know how accessible it is. Sorry don't have any links to download either of those programs... ----- Original Message ----- From: Barry To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2005 12:55 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: finding a file in xp with jaws The way I use the XP search is as follows: Windows key + f to get into the search Tab once to *Documents, word processing, spreadsheets, etc* and hit enter Tab once to *All or part of the document name* and type in the first few letters of the file I am looking for and hit enter When it finishes searching, I then tab round to *Folder list view* and arrow down the list until I find the file I'm looking for If it's not there, I can either tab to search again or alt +f4 to exit HTH Barry H ----- Original Message ----- From: Theo Pimm To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2005 10:57 AM Subject: [jaws-uk] finding a file in xp with jaws Hi, I am trying to locate a file I have lost. I have tried using the search facility under windows explorer XP but find it very difficult to use with Jaws 5. If I have a piece of text/file name/date modified what is the quickest way to find it? Is there a simpler way to do this than trying to navigate this dialogue box - I have had to use the Jaws cursor to find things etc. Perhaps something using a Dos command or is that too retro. Thanks John Pimm
