That did the trick.  My in box is now back to normal.

Barbara, if what you were thinking had been the problem, I would have been able 
to resolve that problem without having to come on the list.  However, thank you 
for your reply and suggestion.

    I hope some one will be able to come to my rescue!

    For some unknown reason, all my read Emails in my in box, have done a 
disappearing act on me, leaving me with the unread Emails.  I haven't deleted 
them to the delete box, so it is a complete puzzle to me.  

    It has been suggested to me that I could have filtered these Emails by 
accident, how, I don't know.  Please could any one help me to retrieve them 
back to their rightful place.
