There is an alternative, but there is a cost, it is captcha-be-gone, they have
add-ons for Internet Explorer and Firefox but not sure about other browsers.

I AGREE THAT THE GOOD SITES MAKE AVAILABLE THE AUDIO OPTION. HOWEVER, I AM
TALKING THE CAPTCHA WITHOUT THE AUDIO OPTION AND NEED TO GET READ OUT WHICH I
PRIVOUSLY DID USING WEBVISUM, BUT NOW IT IS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WILL APPRICIATE IF ANOTHER OPTION IS SUGGESTED TO GET THE CAPTCHA READ OUT.

You can't do it with Jaws, there should be an audio option - some good sites
let you refresh it if you need to hear it a few times.
