Tiddy you are right of course the three key strokes you mentioned without
Jaws would be fine for a non jaws user with some sight.

However if you read what it said and this mustbe Microsoft's observations,
many VIPs find a black screen easier to cope with. Now if MS can see this
why on earth can't Freedom scientific?

Only think 1 set of appalling instructions sent from Florida when printed
out took up ten pages, as a Professor at moorfields said to me " of course
you must use it that way it is surely the only proper way to use it, this
Professor now retired is perhaps the most famous Retinal specialist in the
world or so we think.
Even sillier is that in the past it did once work why on earth should FS
do that?

When I could still see a bit, I used to use this command when things
fouled up and Jaws stopped speaking, to read dialogue boxes etc.
I never said it was a complete solution, but, of course, if FS had had
any gumption, and weren't so keen on selling magnification software as
well, they could, from the days of Jaws3.0, have designed their screen
reader to work with this configuration properly.
Dorothy's insistence that Jaws wouldn't work with white lettering on
black put this high-contrast thing out of my mind. There have always
been workarounds for her problem, but that's not the point.
Very many visually impaired people can see white on black better than
the conventional display, so there really is no excuse for FS not to
have designed Jaws for this, without the need for such work-arounds.

Hallo Phil and david my print screen key was being activated on laptop
but
I only got an offer to change from Us to Jaws English and screen
wouldnot
invert, it did on desktop but with the issues mentioned Folders all
saying
unread when read and an odd kind of echo from Jaws, Andrew a hadn't
come
across this feature before and Tiddy found it on a list but not being
used
by a Jaws user, I would guess this must be Microsoft's concession for
VIPs?
in which case does it work any better in Vista? I hear Narrator does and
an
engineer who visited me to remove Trojans said Vista had speech
recognition
as well, is this true?
I have had to put computer back to normal however because Jaws had
developed an odd sort of echo and insisted all files and folders were
unread
even after been read again. Needs a dose of Doctor Jaws!

Hi David,

It sounds as if your print screen key isn't being activated.

Alt+shift together do what you have experienced.

On my machine using XP Pro, SP3, JFW10 this command only toggles
between
U.S. and British keyboard.

As you all know, Dorothy has been wanting this for years, and I'd
assumed that recent Jaws versions wouldn't work like this but...
There is a Windows High Contrast option, left-hand alt, left hand
shift,
and the print screen key, pushed all at once.
This does, in fact still work on XP and with Jaws 9...
So...
Why is it so unknown? Surely all the professionals that have been
contacted on the subject should have known it?

But while we're on the subject, what is the equivalent of the Print
Screen key on a laptop. I've never used such a thing.
