Catherine,

The Word keystroke for moving to the top of the next column is Alt +
DownArrow, and the keystroke for moving to the top of the previous
column is Alt + UpArrow. These conflict with the JAWS keystrokes for
reading the next and previous sentence and so require the PassThrough
key, Insert + 3, in order to work. So, to get to the next column you can
press Insert + 3, Alt + DownArrow.

When a document is put into columns, it is also automatically put into
Page Layout view. If you are concerned simply with reading a document
that is in columns, in Page Layout view you can use any navigation
method other than simply pressing DownArrow and you should have no
problem. An alternative is to change the document into Normal View; the
columns then appear under each other and even DownArrow will move
through all the text. In Normal view you get no information about moving
from one column to the next (or previous).

Steve

Hi,

When JAWS indicates that you are in text column in a Word document, how
do
you move to another text column?
