Hi Gary,

I've got Word 2016 but I think it's the same as 2010. 

First thing to do is move to the row below where you want the table to split.

Then, if you're not using the JAWS virtual ribbon, you could press Alt J L Q. 
And if you are using the JAWS virtual ribbon, you could press Alt, RightArrow 
to the second Layout tab, Enter, DownArrow to Merge, Enter, DownArrow to Split 
Table, Enter
