Tony, Sorry to go on about this but Have you checked whether the top and bottom alert is identified as "on" in the jaws verbosity dialogue (insert + v) in Outlook express? If it is off then press the space bar on it and it should say "on". Once you have confirmed it is on, try simply opening a message in Outlook Express and press the up arrow at the top line. You should get the ding telling you you can go no further up. The next thing to try is to go out of the message and press control r to reply to a message. This is where I find the alert doesn't work in Outlook, when I am writing a new message. Tony, perhaps I'm missing something here but it seems to me that the best way of setting the top and bottom alert is through the Jaws verbosity settings. This can certainly be done in Outlook and Word. In my version of Jaws 8 the default setting is on. If I want the setting to be "off" I have to change it every time I leave Word or Outlook for another window or close the programme down and restart it. Since you want the alert on this problem doesn't seem to arise. If you are reading an E-mail message do you get a "ding" from the computer when you reach the top line and continue to press the up arrow? I find that it doesn't work when I'm *writing* a message even though the verbosity settings say the alert is on. In Word the alert seems to work all the time. By the way, it only indicates the top or bottom of a document (or message) and not of a page (as I think you mentioned in another message). I hope I haven't confused matters further Best wishes Robert __________ NOD32 2953 (20080317) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
