It did work though finding the setting was  similar but not quite identical but
can't remember exactly. Close enough to be fairly easy to find once I knew
windows 7 procedure as I remember.
I am not in front of a Windows pc so can't be more precise at the moment.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion - it seems to work fine in Windows 7 but not in
Windows 10.

In Windows 10 you fall into a JAWS pit of total uselessness.

I typed Notifications into the search box and got the expected list. But
pressing the tab key on any of the entries brought me to an item that says
'Pinned Quick Action combo' and that's it. JAWS will allow no further
action. Try to activate the combo and nothing no list appears. Try to switch
into JAWS Cursor Mode to explore the screen and the screen appears to be
blank. Cannot tab anywhere cannot move with the arrow keys, can't type
anything into the combo box. Complete deadend!

You need to get all programs to put notifications in the system tray.

In windows 7 this is best done by pressing windows key and in the search box
type notifications You are looking for a setting called Notification Area
Icons.  Press enter to go into this and press shift tab until you get to a
check box saying something like  Always show all icons and notifications on
the task bar.
This should be checked.  If not press space to check it.

Does this help?

Regards

Graham

Hi

No JAWS+f11 doesn't work just gives me dropbox, speaking and infonet access.

I've tried the Overflow area and several more arcane and obscure things. It
just seems that JAWS is incapable of reading the notification.

Some of them I know are in the Security Centre but by know means all and it
would be nice to know what is going wrong or happening without having to
take all kinds of actions to find out.

This probably won't work, but especially with the notifications:
Try Jaws key+F11 and see if anything appears on that list.

Kevin, I saw your original post on this subject but had no answer.  This
suggestio is more wishful thinking than much of a twig to grasp.

though be clicking.

I have a similar problem with notifications I know I've got one but
can't find out what it is. I assumed this was one of JAWS' increasing
number of inabilities but perhaps it's one of mine!!
