Yes jaws does speak.

If you purchased your licence for jaws from sight and sound then give them a
call they should be able to advise also, you can call the Microsoft
disability help desk if it turns out to be a windows issue their number is:
0800260584

In both cases they can connect to your pc and try sort the problem out.

Thanks for that, but I don't hear anything in Edge, Jaws doesn't speak
anything at all, do you hear any speech?
Incidentally, the free NVDA screen reader reads everything well, so I know
it lands in a search box when it opens.
I thought Jaws was up to speed with Edge, so it may just be me.

Just moved to windows 10 and I don't think much to edge so use internet
explorer and fire fox.

From what I can work out when you open edge you are in an edit box to type
the web address so is completely different to the 2 browsers mentioned
above.

I don't know the answer to the spell check problem, but I have another ,
Jaws will not do anything in the Edge browser, is this another problem?
or is it me?

Tried going back no joy.

According to sight and sound Microsoft have changed the way the spell
checker works in word compared to outlook however, office 365 has a
different spell checker in word which works with jaws.

I have contacted Microsoft and waiting for their response because they
accept that there has been a change to the spell checker in word 2016.

Hi, can't help but someone on the BCAB list is having the same problem
and
no solution yet found.
If you're using the very l latest Jaws update, this the main suspect.
try going back to a slightly earlier version of Jaws 2018.
