what application were you using when you couldn't get into the combo boxes?

If you use Office 97 I would say it is seriously time for an upgrade if you
can afford it.

I don't think JAWS does any serious testing with Office 97 anymore and I
doubt many other screenreaders give it much thought either. It is just too
old! Priorities need to be set somewhere as funds for research and
development are limited.

I've just tried getting into a combo box with Jaws 9. As I arrow down,
pushing the "say line" keys tells me it's item 5 of 19, say... but the
item spoken is the top one on the list.

No problemn with Jaws 7.0.
Also, sorry if this is a mess, but it won't read back what I've written
in Thunderbird, and won't read pages in Word 97.
So it's the usual sorry story...
