Hi it was because I had this problem that I set to scan Manually although at 8 am each morning it did a little update. However after a local company did some work on my laptop I was persuaded to buy Kaspersky, Now it is I believe a good Ant-virus, however Jaws and it cannot speak to each other. Dr Norman Waddington has the same problem. I contacted the Technical Support and the Salesman at the local company and we are trying to apply pressure on the Makers of Kaspersky to fix it so we can tell what is happening.. I and the local Salesman think any good Ant-virus should in this day and age work with any screen Reader. I could have got my money back but since the local Engineer has set it to run on auto on Desktop and laptop so long as I am a paying customer I may have a bit of leverage, anyway that is the theory, in practise I will keep you updated. Hi List, Using Word 2000 and JAWS 8 with AVG 7.5 I have just opened Word and gone into an existing document to do someediting. JAWS read everything line by line but when I tried to read a wordat a time, with Ctrl+Right Arrow, all Jaws would say is "blank". I checked Font attributes with Ins+F and was told: "point black, mixed font, mixed style". I went into the Font menu to check if my default settings had changed but they had not.Fast forward a couple of minutes and AVG announced it had finished scanning and told me to press Space Bar to close. And hey presto, JAWS reads word byword. My question is, why should AVG limit JAWS to reading only line by line whenits scanning and is there any way of getting round this? AVG can takeanything up to an hour to scan for viruses and as things stand at the momentit is pointless me trying to edit documents during scanning. Any thoughts?
