I echo what Terry is saying I was first introduced to JAWS back in 1994 when
I worked at the Open University in Milton Keynes, it seemed at one stage
with Internet Explorer that JAWS did well but over the successive years they
have fell behind in expectation as an all round screen reader and like many
products if you could combine the best bits of different screen readers you
would have a good product but I guess this is true with many software
products I find myself using more than one audio editing program to achieve
satisfactory results so find myself doing more things on a smart phone with
apps than on a desktop PC at times.

Hi robin,
You are right to complain. No progress seems to have been made to make Edge
or chrome browsers accessible with JAWS, at least to my knowledge; and I am
just one Freedom scientific customer!

All,
Apologies if there’s been widespread news on this but is there any sign of
Freedom Scientific working with Microsoft or Google to make their Edge and
Chrome browsers more user friendly with Jaws? I’ve got the latest JFW by
the way.
I’ve come across some instances recently, where accessing some websites
with IE11 is failing and the companies are asking me to use Chrome. I do
have Mozilla Firefox installed and am beginning to use it more frequently as
it’s more robust and doesn’t crash like IE every ten minutes!
Ryanair, Asda and Virgin Money are the latest ones to ask me to change
browsers. Many holiday and airline sites are a nightmare with IE trying to
put in dates and destinations...
Tin hat on here... It seems to have gone a bit quiet in the last year or so,
does anyone else feel we’re not getting value for money with the changes
and updates set against the price of the SMA?
Robin Clayden.
