Dear Tris,

Many thanks for coming back to me so quickly.

On further investigation of my folder list problem, my wife told me there
was a little hand rather than an arrow on the item displayed in white on
navy. This turned out to be the mouse cursor. I switched to Jaws cursor, did
a page up, and all now seems OK. Quite what the hand symbol is supposed to
represent I don't know. I can never recall this sort of thing happening in
98 S E. But if that's all it takes to remedy things, I'll stick with this,
and then if it fails me, I'll try your suggestion and change things in
Display.

Thanks once again.

With best wishes,

Keith

Hello

I am not sure what the difference between navy and midnight blue but it
cannot be much. I'd be tempted at this point to drop the colour depth of
the display card to see if the highlight tracking imporves. drop it to 16
bit colour ih the "display" control panel under the "settings" tab and apply
those. Then give the PC a restart and try your lists again.

Regards.

Subject: [jaws-uk] Folder lists in XP

Dear all,

XP, Jaws 610

Since moving over to XP, I am sometimes encountering an odd phenominon
whilst cursoring down folder lists. I have them set to Name, by the way.

I will cursor down a folder list, and Jaws will not speak a particular item.
As far as I know this is completely random. On interrogating the colours,
the items that Jaws speaks are white on midnight blue. However, the colour
that Jaws is not speaking is white on navy.

After encountering this, this morning, on returning to the Desktop, Jaws did
not speak the Jaws icon, and again I found it was white on navy.

Obviously Jaws is not tracking these colours, but I am wondering why certain
items, occasionally, are displayed in different colours. On glancing at the
folder list, my wife could see no reason why a particular item should be in
a different colour.

I should say that I have followd all the recommendations from fS to make
Jaws work with XP.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience, and if there's a
remedy.

Any help would be appreciated.

With best wishes,

Keith
