Martin I have added the add on in fire fox is there anything else to do?
When I press alt A it says add to favourites and organise favourites so how
do you access the favourites you have added?
Does it only apply to anything added after the add on has been installed?

You could add the plainoldfavorites add on which will give the same as what
you had in IE for favorites, and if you add a favorite to IE it will show up
in firefox and vice versa.

It tooke ages for me to get used to Firefox after IE, but having tried
to get bac I find I have got used to FF now.
Anyway, there is no "Favourites" list as such, you just Bookmark things
using Alt B. Sometimes I find I have to go back into Bookmarks to edit
the title and/or folder names though.
Hope this helps, but no dout someone will come up with a simpler remedy.
