Hi

I wanted to write a few lines to this list about using J-Say Pro when you
are away from the computer. When used with additional technologies, one of
the great things about J-Say technology is the ability to free visually
impaired people from the computer, and this is now very possible in several
ways.

As an introduction to this, I should say that we have at T&T Consultancy
always been very committed to supporting Braille output through Braille
displays with J-Say technology. We think the Braille output you receive is
extremely smooth, so that, when you stop dictating a phrase, only then is
the display refreshed to bring into view the newly dictated text.

In addition, if you want to move to a given part of a document, while you
could use any of the screen-reading voice commands to accomplish this, it is
much faster to use the cursor routing keys on the Braille display to move to
the chosen location.

We do support the full range of Braille displays. All the Braille displays
JAWS would normally support are included of course, such as the Pacmate and
Focus models. However, we have recently introduced keystrokes to work with
all models of the Brailliant series.

Back to my main topic however, if you have a bluetooth headset/microphone
capable of working optimally with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you can in fact
operate your computer from up to 30 feet away from it. Moreover, if you
have a Brailliant Braille display, these are bluetooth capable, and so you
can get refreshable Braille output while in another room to your PC and the
computer can be controlled using the human voice.

Lastly, Pacmate Desktop is a terrific vehicle for operating the computer
when away from it. If you have a bluetooth headset/microphone, and of
course a Pacmate, you are all set. In addition to giving you refreshable
Braille output, you have the Pacmate keyboard as well so that you can adopt
a dual approach by using your voice to dictate text and the Pacmate keyboard
to undertake the Windows navigation and screen-reading. This is great for
J-Say Standard users!

So with J-Say, we are pleased to say that there are becoming even more ways
of operating your computer in a range of situations. Just imagine a
situation where you have your only PC (which is a desktop machine) in one
room which cannot be moved from one location to another. If the correct
technologies are employed, you can be in another part of your house, and
compose documents, write E-Mail and surf the web, all using your voice
and/or a keyboard if you wish.

It is worth mentioning that if you wish to take advantage of this very
exciting technology, you should contact your J-Say distributor to learn
about appropriate headset/microphones to use. Moreover, you can only take
advantage of these situations when using a version of J-Say Standard or Pro
which is JAWS 7.0 compatible.
