[iyonix-support] Unreadable PDF files

Greetings!
Downloaded PDF files from Baxi Boilers today. My IYONIX would not read
them. No message, just endless hourglasssing which locked up the
machine. Had to reset to rescue it.
Checked the files' properties on a Microsoft PC. Genuine PDF files,
but originated from an Apple-Mac.
RISC OS recognised the file type as PDF, but could not open.
Has anyone else seen this effect? If so, is there a solution?
I thought that PDF was a format which everyone should be able to read,
but it looks like I am mistaken. Another nail in the RISC OS coffin?
Using Risc OS 5.16. Tried Riscript and the PDF viewer which came with
the Iyonix.
