too it! you need to get past the format c: command steve! Thor (Hammer of God) wrote: It's DEFINATELY not because you are good. Just lucky ;) But I agree... Which was part of my joking Jim about "who says we have to tell them it's running in a VM." The only reason I've ever had to call is when it was part of some particular fubar'd result of an SP or something like that. It's only when I *know* it is something "wrong" in the OS-- like when Win2k3 SP killed replication between 2 servers on either end of a point-to-point ISA VPN... Stuff like that. In those cases, when I know it's not the platform or implementation, I would "suppress" information regarding a deployment if I knew it was irrelevant ;) t-----Original Message----- From: isapros-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isapros- bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steve Moffat Sent: Friday, September 28, 2007 7:35 AM To: isapros@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isapros] Re: ..to add to the VM fires <rant, (perhaps, perhaps not)> You know, this thing with Microsoft support bugs the hell out of me, especially when people complain about them. Complain about your own knowledge and aptitude / ability. Back in the day, it was the bastion of last resort. Nowadays it seems to be first port of call for any small issue. I have never had to call them for anything, seriously. I don't know whether it's because I am good, or if I just have a different attitude to what a major issue consists of and how to go about fixing it. Regarding this issue of ISA on a VM specifically, while I know that it works, and have actually got an ISA VM, but not for protecting anything, just for testing etc, If I did, I would always have a backup. Not much cost involved in a nice little workstation with 2 raided HDD's, with ISA installed to mirror your VM environment. In the event of a VM failure, then just swap VM for physical....no down time... I have working images of all my VM's also, just in case... <rant finished, (for now)> S S -----Original Message----- From: isapros-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isapros- bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Harrison Sent: Friday, September 28, 2007 11:13 AM To: isapros@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isapros] ..to add to the VM fires http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897615 |
