Try moving the Allow Rule for Proxy Users group to the top of the ISA
Rule list, to make sure there is no other rule which contradicting that
allow rule.

Also have you tried creating a completely new student account which is
just a member of the proxy users group and the Domain Users group?

all the students are part of a proxy users group. the proxy users group
has a grant all rule.

one other school is working.. but the main school isnt, and i cant
figure out why

IE first pops up and says it cant find the search page, then we get the
502 error.

when I logon to the box, it works, when a student does, it breaks. when
a teacher logs on , it works.

Its looks like there is a Deny rule is not being matched or an allow
rule is missing for the group members for the students.
