Quote: "open up three ports " patent required You need to be directly connected to the internet to send voice and video. If you have ISA as a firewall you will not be able to do it, unless the person you are trying to communicate with is directly connected (ie no firewall ROFLMAO) ISA needs a SIP to be able to be do voice and video communications. Hit google for more info on SIP, im not explaining it here. As for blocking porn pictures.. If you want to block access to heaps of porn websites, go to http://isatools.org and get the "deny sets" script et all to import a list porn sites your isa can block. You can manually add some if you want. If that's what you fancy great, if not and you want to block them in email or just being saved etc, you will need to be more specific so we can direct you down the right path my son... If you are using PC to Phone from work or school, you are most likely behind a firewall. Your Internet provider could have a firewall set up or could be using a proxy server. PC to Phone can't work through a proxy server under any circumstance. However, if your provider has a firewall, it is possible to make PC to Phone work through the firewall if you make the necessary changes. How PC to Phone Deals With Firewalls: PC to Phone utilizes your Internet connection to your Internet provider to make calls to telephones, PCs, and faxes worldwide. To make a call possible, PC to Phone uses three ports, two UDPPORTs and one TCPPORT, to establish a line of communication between the PC and the PC-to-Phone switch. One UDPPORT is used to establish the initial connection to the server and the second UDPPORT is used to pass voice packets. The TCPPORT is used for control to make sure the connection between the PC and the PC-to-Phone server remains open. PC to Phone establishes the first connection using port UDPPORT 6801. This port must be open both ways to allow a connection to the outside world and a connection back to the PC. The other UDPPORT does not have to be specified. PC to Phone uses anything in the range from 1-30000. The second UDPPORT connection established is used to pass voice packets. To get the second UDPPORT to work through a firewall, you must specify a port to open through your firewall in the range of 1-3000. The UDPPORT has to go both ways to allow an external connection and a connection back to the PC. The TCPPORT does not have to be specified. PC to Phone uses anything in the range from 1-3000. The TCPPORT is used for control to make sure the connection between the PC and the PC-to-Phone server remains open. Configuring PC to Phone to Work Through a Firewall: Your Network Administrator needs to open up three ports, two UDPPORTs and one TCPPORT. The ports must be allowed to make an external connection and a connection back in. The following ports must be opened through the firewall: UDPPORT=6801 UDPPORT=XXXX TCPPORT=XXXX The Network Administrator needs to make sure UDPPORT 6801 is open. For the other UDPPORT and TCPPORT, the administrator can use anything in the range from 1-30000. Once the ports are specified through the firewall, it's up to you to complete the process. Firewall and/or Proxy Server Users Firewalls and proxy servers cause the majority of Yahoo! Messenger connection problems, but Messenger can be configured to get through most firewalls and proxies without too much trouble. Here's how to configure your Yahoo! Messenger to get through a firewall or proxy server: 1. Open the Login menu in Messenger. 2. Click on Preferences, then click on the Connection tab. 3. Click on No network detection, then hit the OK button at the bottom. 4. Messenger will ask you if you want to try to log on with your new proxy settings. Click the Yes button. 5. When prompted, enter your ID and password, then hit the Login button. If that doesn't work, follow these steps: 1. Open the Login menu in Messenger. 2. Click on Preferences, then click on the Connection tab. 3. Click on Firewall with no proxies, then hit the OK button at the bottom. 4. Messenger will ask you if you want to try to log on with your new proxy settings. Click the Yes button. 5. When prompted, enter your ID and password, then hit the Login button. The above configuration will work in almost any situation. However, if you connect in this way, you won't be able to use the Voice Chat feature. If neither of the above options work, you're probably behind a firewall or proxy server that requires you to enter its address. Follow these steps: 1. Open the Login menu in Messenger. 2. Click on Preferences, then click on the Connection tab. 3. Click on Use proxies. Here you can enter your firewall and/or proxy server's address and port number. Contact your network administrator (if you're at work), or your Internet service provider (if you're at home) to determine the correct firewall and proxy settings. I can't connect to the voice servers. Customers who connect through a firewall or proxy server may not be able use the voice feature. Here's how to determine if this applies to you: 1. Click the Messenger menu in Messenger and select Preferences. 2. Click the Connection category. 3. If anything other than No proxies is checked, you may not be able to use voice feature. You can try selecting No proxies and see if Messenger will connect. You may configure your firewall or proxy server with the following information: Protocol: UDP or TCP Servers: * v1.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v2.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v3.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v4.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v5.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v6.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v7.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v8.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v9.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v10.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v11.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v13.vc.sc5.yahoo.com * vc1.vip.scd.yahoo.com Ports: 5000-5010 How do I configure my firewall/proxy server? You may be experiencing an issue because you are connecting through a firewall and/or proxy server. In order to solve the issue, you will need to configure your firewall and/or proxy server. The following information should assist with your configuration: Basic Connection: Protocol: TCP or HTTP Servers: * scs.msg.yahoo.com * scsa.msg.yahoo.com * scsb.msg.yahoo.com * scsc.msg.yahoo.com Port: 20,23,25,80,119,5050,8001,8002 Webcam Connection: Protocol: TCP Server: webcam.yahoo.com Port: 5100 File Transfer Connection: Protocol: HTTP Server: filetransfer.msg.yahoo.com Port: 80 File Sharing Connection: Protocol: HTTP Port: 80 Voice Chat Connection: Protocol: UDP or TCP Servers: * v1.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v2.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v3.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v4.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v5.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v6.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v7.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v8.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v9.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v10.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v11.vc.scd.yahoo.com * v13.vc.sc5.yahoo.com * vc1.vip.scd.yahoo.com Ports: 5000-5010 Firewalls Users who connect to the Yahoo! Messenger servers through a firewall or proxy server will not be able use the Voice Chat feature. Here's how to determine if this applies to you: from the main Messenger window, pull down the Login menu, then click on Preferences then click on the Connection tab. If anything other than No proxies is checked, you won't be able to use Voice Chat. You can try selecting No proxies and see if Messenger will connect that way, but it's likely that Messenger has already tried that, and connected in one of the alternate ways because you are behind a firewall or proxy server. Proxy Servers and Firewalls: * A firewall is a device that companies, schools, and other networks use to protect their data from intruders. If you're at work, school, or a library, you're almost certainly behind a firewall. * A proxy server is a computer that provides access to Internet files from other computers by retrieving them either from its local cache or from a remote computer on the Internet. Anyone can be connected through a proxy server without knowing it, and the only way to find out for sure is to contact your network administrator or call your Internet service provider (the company that you call to get connected to the Net) and ask them if they use a proxy or firewall. Can I use the Webcam feature behind a firewall or proxy? In order to use all the Yahoo! Messenger Webcam features, your firewall must permit incoming and outgoing TCP connections on port 5100. You must ask your system administrator to make this change. If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you may not be able to use the Webcam feature. If you are running Windows XP, you may be running the built-in Internet Connection Firewall. Most companies' networks are located behind a firewall, and some also use a proxy. Most Internet service providers (ISPs) don't have firewalls or proxies, but you should contact your network administrator or ISP for accurate information. If you use a broadband router or network hub that comes integrated with a firewall, refer to the software vendor's help section to learn how to open up the firewall ports. Note: You may be unable to use Super Webcam due to firewalls. Super Webcam needs to establish a direct connection between the broadcaster and viewer. Your webcam statistics will tell you what type of connection you can make. To check, click the Webcam menu and select Statistics Subject: [isalist] RE: creating new port Date: Thu, 24 Feb 2005 08:58:53 -0500 From: "Andrew English" <andrew@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Add to Address Book To: "[ISAserver.org Discussion List]" <isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> http://www.ISAserver.org I will tell you how to do it if you tell me how to create a split dns..
