One very handy additional to a windows network I have always found is... a *nix
box :)

I have one but I generally always build a VM on my pcs, whether its home or
work, and install all my tools on it. Comes in very handy at times.

One *nix-like tool that would be very kewl to have for Windows is
tcptraceroute. This works just like traceroute but allows you to traceroute to
a specific TCP port. That's a great tool when you need to determine at which
firewall or ACLed router ports are being blocked.

Another tool, hping, is available for Windows. This works like tcptraceroute
for TCP ports but can also do the same of UDP ports, in addition to just ICMP.
However, I have had no success in actually getting it to work.

Anyone know of any other tools that run on Windows and provides the same kind
of functionality as above?
