I don't know what you've read about "add-ins", but if you're using authentication, you can't get Skype through. Isn't there some sort of add-in for ISA ? I've noticed since I'm quite new to the ISA server, that there are add-ins you can install when ISA does not have a particular feature. I've sent my info to skype anyway, hoping thay will evetually sort it out.
