I'm working with the QFE team to try to sort this out.
If anyone can get a packet trace while this happens (I know, that's the hard
part), that'll help immensely.

Interesting.......has Microsoft make any commits or work-around to make the
SMTP Application Filter to function again after SP1 been implemented?

As I mentioned in one of my posts yesterday, this also happened to me.
Upon examining the e-mails it was blocking I found it was choking on
data in the message as though it were an SMTP command. I too turned the
filter off.

The strange thing was that a lot of e-mail was getting through; just
certain messages were being rejected.

All,

I've been running the SMTP Application Filter for a long time now. No
problems with it, and I just run it to prevent buffer overflows and
such. I don't use the Message Screener because Mail Essentials is so
much better :-)

Since installing SP1, I'm getting really strange SMTP event messages
that contain pieces of email messages. For example:

ISA Server name: EXETERT2

Y AND

And then,

ISA Server name: EXETERT2

N ABOUT

And then,

ISA Server name: EXETERT2

OVERRUN

And then,

ISA Server name: EXETERT2

WEBLOGIC SERVER

And on and on and one...

Now I've got to turn off the damned SMTP Application filter until this
gets fixed :-)

HTH,
Tom
