Well paul, if you get this list's archives, you'll see a lot of posts from Tom about multiple PIX vulnerabilites, for an instance. If your manager isn't comfortable with security vulnerabilites, he'd be better off the Internet then. Any solution, ISA, Pix, Checkpoint, linux, will require regular monitoring and maintanance and updates. But it would be a really bad choice to migrate from ISA to anything, except for another ISA ;) I really get annoyed with this "Microsoft isn't safe" talk. Ask him when did ISA 2000 crash. Fortunately, all my customers who said that currently have an ISA firewall and they do truely forget that the ISA firewall's there ! ;) Tiago -----Mensagem original----- De: Paul Crisp [mailto:pcrisp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Enviada: ter 1/18/2005 20:01 Para: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Cc: Assunto: [isalist] ISA 2004 against other manufacturers firewalls http://www.ISAserver.org Hi all, Firstly I want to state that I have been using Microsoft Proxy / Firewalls since Proxy 2.0 and we are now running ISA 2004 which I'm finding a very full featured product and also much nicer and easier to use than ISA 2000 Unfortunately my knowledgable manager (not!) can't understand why we are using a Microsoft product, and obviously because its installed on a server he thinks its just another Microsoft box thats likely to crash or have loads of security vulnerabilities ! He has now asked me to join a meeting with a supplier on Thursday 20th to which the supplier will be showing us the Juniper Netscreen-208 and the Fortinet range of products. I want to go in with all the armoury I can and basically stick to my guns on the Microsoft ISA products, especially ISA 2004 as I know the product can fulfil our needs and also makes an upgrade path from our other existing ISA 2000 products. Please can you help and give me the facts and figures I need. I have read through Tom's article http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004firewallcomparisonp1.html and this does help me. Just wondered if people could quote certifications and other facts etc All help appreciated and lets hope I will be continuing to use and learn from the great Tom, Jim and others Paul Crisp Snr Network Support Analyst ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail, together with any attachments, is confidential between the sender and addressee(s).
