Sony have patch made to "de-stealth" program. Still won't let you
remove it without downloading another program.

Very interesting read! It is curious how the illegal and unethical
behavior of stealing music has lead to unethical and in my opinion
libelous behavior of damaging my computer.

Despite all the convenience this is exactly why I don't think of my PC
as, or use my PC as an entertainment device. If I want to listen to
music I use a CD player or if I really want to listen to music my
turntable.

Obviously the "industry" would disagree but I think the act of changing
the personal computer into an entertainment center has been a major
wrong turn. What started out as a way to keep programmers awake through
a tedious debugging session has morphed into a nightmare of government
regulations and whole series of measure/countermeasure that have now
culminated into poorly written destabilizing code not only being
installed on my computer, but hidden as well!

Of course all of these efforts by the entertainment industry can be side
stepped by using "other platforms", or by simply ripping the CD in
analog if you really must have it on your PC.

No amount of technology can solve this ethical problem, the fact that
Sony is solving it with really underhanded techniques that are not even
implemented well is not only infuriating but very depressing as well.

Bill
