OT: 3Com Switches

I'm in a bind here, our 3Com switches are acting up, and 3Com has
sneakily rewritten their warranty in the last couple of months to say
that we have to now purchase a service contract just to download
firmware updates.
Does anyone have any newer updates for 3Com switches that I can use
until we can arrange for purchasing the damn thing?
