Actually MSN doesnt use DNS names to resolve, at least from my experience.
 
MSN has always worked everytime my DNS has failed. We had our DNS servers fail 
and MSN still worked, but nothing else did.
 
Same thing at home when I screwed up my DNS servers. MSN worked fine.

        That'll be difficult, since it's probably the initial DNS query for
        messenger.hotmail.com that actually causing the dial-up.
