Linux on DMZ cannot resolve hostnames

hi,
        i have my network configured with 3 nics, lan,dmz and internet.
        i have a w2k box on dmz segment and all services is working. i can
ping by ip and fqdn.
        i also have a linux box on dmz segment. i can ping by ip address of
all internet host. but when i try to use fqdn, it doesnt work.

any hints?
