This seems to be a unique, you need to verify two things, the NIC definition
in Device Manager on your computer and the physical end, you mentioned
You had switches, are they set to auto sense the interface speed and how
about half and full duplex modes and don't forget that it might be a patch
cable, you might want to plug that interface into another hub just for
testing, do you have the latest NIC driver installed? I listed a few things
to get you started, something about Windows that caused me a problem when I
first started using 2000, in the device manager Snap In under view, you can
list all hidden devices, Windows wont remove the device definition after you
replace the card rather it hides it, make sure you view all hidden devices
and remove all the definitions that you are not using.
