Hi Sam,

The external interface on the ISA firewall needs to be configured to be
on the same network ID as the internal interface of the linksys, and the
default gateway on the external interface of the ISA firewall must the
internal address on the linksys.

HTH,
Tom

Thanks a lot that was the answer I was looking for, do you know if the
external ISA NIC will be assigned the actual Public address or will
still be assigned an internal ip (e.g.192.168.1.11) by the router?

Thanks!

IIRC, the Linksys routers have a DMZ capability - just set up the
Linksys to pass all to the ISA via the DMZ setup in the router

I appreciate the prompt response. How can I have all the traffic goes
directly to the ISA server? Do I need to open a large range of ports on
the
router? E.g. 1024 - 9000 ports will be passed to the ISA server in this
example. The router will just assign the ports (1024 - 9000) to
192.168.1.100? That will probably defeat the purpose of using the
router.
Here is how I would like my network configured. The cable modem is
connected
to a linksys router. The linksys router is connected to the external NIC
of
the ISA server, the Internal NIC of the ISA server is connected to the
Hub.
The hub has all the internal clients connected to it. Would this work?
Or
should just get rid of the router all together and have the ISA server
on
the edge of my network.

Thanks!

Configure your Linksys to pass the appropriate ports to the ISA server's
'outside' address.

Here's an example given the following:

1.2.3.4 - live internet IP address
192.168.1.100 - IP Address of External ISA
172.16.1.1 - IP Address of Internal ISA
172.16.1.2 - IP Address of Exchange Server

Config the Linksys to pass all SMTP requests on port 25 to 192.168.1.100
Config ISA to accept SMTP on address 192.168.1.100 -> 172.16.1.2

Make sense?

How can I use ISA server in Integrated mode behind a Linksys or a Dlink
Router? ISA server cannot see the external or Public IP which is needed
to
publish Internal servers such as exchange. ISA server external NIC is
assigned and Internal IP ( 192.168.1.x)by the Router. Is this possible
or
you have to have ISA external network card connected directly to the DSL
or
Cable Modem.

Thank you,

Best,
