Good metaphor indeed and good advice in general! However, in this case let me give you more specifics: The domain is only going to have 2 servers in it--the NLB paired ISA servers themselves. The only purpose of the domain is to house the array config. And will provide no other domain services. Secondly, ISA will be configured in firewall mode and will be pushing about 100 megs of traffic between them (these are at the edge in a datacenter) and will have very few filters running (allow DNS, Windows Media and one site to site VPN. As for the "horses", they will be 2.4 Ghz P4s, 1 G of RAM with dual SATA drives in each. Still think it's necessary to have 2 more servers behind these ISA boxes for domain controllers rather than use these boxes as domain controllers? Thanks for your help!
