Hi Marcello Magno,

If you would try to use the SMTP filter for content and attachment filtering
refer to
your CD-rom ISA server2000 \support\docs\smtpfilter.htm
Anyway shortly ...
You will need the use an 3rd computer with IIS SMTP on it as relay server.
Install the "message screener" on the IIS SMTP server. (located on your ISA
CD-rom)
Publish this smtp server as secure mailserver within ISA.
Point that relay server to your real Mailserver (smarthost)
This is the best and most secure way to do.
Also, I have read a lot about this config. since I found that filtering
attachments is not setup
as plug'play in ISA server. Of course an FIREWALL is not an MAILSCANNER in
this context.
Performance are not that big.
Tip: I think you better use an 3th party software like "Mail essentials"
that you install
on your Exchange server in order to filter Emails on attachments
keywords, commands ...ect.

Hope that it will help you,
Andre Coigne

No it's is not, When the consultant instaled the isa server, he have
unchecked all the IIS.

Is this option necessary to use SMTP APPLICATION FILTER ? Let tel my
case, to see if it will work. I Have a Exchange 5.5 behind this ISA. I Use a
Server Publishing Rule (that is kind of a port Map), to let SMTP trafic to
arrive to my Exchange.

If I Put this Service to run, Can I Use these rules in this situation ?

    Thanks A lot.

    Hugs.

        Hi.
I was wondering if there is a know bug in the SMTP aplication
filter, located on the extensions menu.
Every time that I try to enable this filter with the mail
attachment
rule, it simply does not work.
I was trying to enable a rule that picks the attachments with
the
.exe extention and fwd than to me, putting my email on the apropriate
field.
When I Click Ok, close, and open again the green dotch turns
into a
red one, and the words that were in the cathegory, value and action
fields
vanish.
What I am doing wron ?
        Thanks in advice.
